Charles Arthur 'Charlie' Taylor

Charles “Charlie” Arthur Taylor was born on September 15, 1942. Charlie passed away on March 20, 2026. Funeral services will be conducted by Steve Chism and Tim Cole and will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at the Saint Jo Church of Christ at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:00 at the Saint Jo Church of Christ. Burial will be held at Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo. Charlie was born to Arthur and Jessie (Price) Taylor in Smithfield, NC. His father was in the Air Force and moved often through Charlie’s childhood. Charlie graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1960. He began working for the United States Postal Service in Wichita Falls in 1962 starting as a mail carrier and working his way up to postmaster. Charlie retired in 1997 after a 35-year career with USPS. During his career, Charlie volunteered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wichita Falls sharing his time and wisdom to many young men in need of a positive role model. Charlie was also a member of Toastmasters International building his skills as a leader in the workplace. On July 26, 1990, Charlie married Judy Cole at his parent’s home in Wichita Falls, Texas. Charlie and Judy blended their families and created a life full of love with family as the backdrop for every happy moment. While Charlie loved the titles of husband and father, his favorite title was POPPA! Charlie and Judy loved to travel with friends, to see friends, and to spend time with family in North Carolina. The best phrase to describe how Charlie felt about his family is fiercely proud. From his unwavering support of his daughter growing up in Wichita Falls, to golfing with his sons, to attending sporting events and performances for the grandchildren and great grandchildren, Charlie was always there cheering the loudest. Charlie is survived by his wife Judy; daughter, Lee Kinnett and husband Dee of Dallas; son Steve Chism and wife DaLana of Muenster; son Mike Chism and wife Laurie of Granbury; sister Judy Williams and husband Max of Aubrey; grandchildren Sean Chism and wife Cheyanne along with their children Isabel and Spencer of Saint Jo, Natalie Hazelip and husband Kyle of Bonham, Lauren Chism of Dallas, Brendan Chism of Georgetown, and Olivia Kinnett of Dallas, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins and extended family and friends. He is also survived by brother-in-law Tim Cole and wife Sherry, brother-in-law Mike Cole and wife Lynetta, sister-in-law Becky Cole Smith. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Jessie, his in-laws Sonny and Dee Cole, and brother-in-law Ricky Smith.
