Patricia Ann (McKillip) McCoy

A graveside memorial service for Patricia Ann (McKillip) McCoy, age 86, of Saint Jo will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at M. J. Mac McCoy Family Cemetery in Saint Jo. Patricia was born on November 24, 1934, to Richard Francis and Juanita Alice (Hanson) McKillip in Hayes County, Nebraska. She moved with her family to Curtis Nebraska where she was raised and attended school. She graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1951. She taught elementary for a few years but on a trip with her sister to Fort Ord, California, to visit her sister’s fiancé, she met an Army Captain, Merkel Jimmy ‘Mac’ McCoy, who would change her life. Patricia married Mac on August 25, 1956, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. They had six children: Peggy Anne, Linda Lou, Michael James, Dennis Mathew, and fraternal twins Karen Kay and Katherine Sue. They divorced in 1970. Pat, with help from family, returned to school and graduated from the University of Texas Arlington with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She worked twenty years in Personnel Management before “retiring” to work at Southwest Airlines. She passed away at Karen’s home in Saint Jo Texas on Friday, October 29, 2021, with family by her side. Patricia is survived by daughters: Peggy and husband James Thomas of Morgan, TX, Linda Currans of Saint Jo, TX, Karen and husband Hugh Hillebrand of Saint Jo, TX, and Katherine McCoy of Arlington, TX; sons: Michael McCoy and husband Rudy Shaw of Farmers Branch, TX, and Dennis McCoy of Sherman, Tx; grandchildren: Jennifer and husband Michael Connell, Jessica and fiancé Mitch Russell, Haley Hillebrand and fiancé Wiley Lindsey, Mathew McCoy, and Katie Hillebrand and partner Josh Dodge; great grandchildren: Clara and Max Connell; brother: Kenneth McKillip; sister: Mary Ellen and husband Larry Ourada; and 35 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Juanita McKillip; brothers: William and wife Mary Virginia McKillip, Robert and wife Jo Ann McKillip, and Gene and wife Mary Jane McKillip; sisters: Eileen and husband Jim Hopkins, and Arvella Nadine Hood; sister-in-law: Sylvia McKillip; and daughter-in-law: Kammie McCoy.
