Weldon Anthony Vogel

Weldon Anthony “Poodle” Vogel, age 78, of Dallas went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 27, 2025. Weldon was born in Muenster, Texas on October 13, 1946, eleventh of thirteen children to Joseph and Frances Hartman Vogel. Weldon grew up on a farm five miles south of Muenster known as the Four Corners area. He had fond memories of helping neighbors during the harvest and hay seasons. A special treat was when neighbor, Lyton Coursey, would sometimes invite him and his brother Don for a flyover in his little yellow airplane. No parental permission needed, those were the days! In his youth, Weldon attended Sacred Heart and Muenster Public School where he loved participating in all sports and FFA. He was always a big supporter of both schools, especially during football seasons when he would often inquire about how their games came out on Friday night. As a staff sergeant, he served valiantly in the United States Army, 1st Cavalry Division Vietnam. A lifetime member of VFW Post 6205, Muenster, he was staunchly patriotic and outwardly proud of having served his country. After his duty in Vietnam, Weldon returned home and married Mary Sills of Houston, Texas. He was the father of three children: Dale, Kari, and Michael. He was PawPaw to eight grandchildren: Kyle, Travis, Tracy, Allie, Michael, Blake, Weldon, and Weston. Weldon Vogel was self employed in pool construction for forty years. A man of integrity, he was well respected by employees and peers alike. Weldon was devoted to his family and friends and will always be remembered for his endless and selfless generosity, sharp wit and lively sense of humor. Some friends like to ride around the countryside with Weldon and would sometimes say he had a slight ornery streak. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Weldon leaves behind six siblings: Lil Walterscheid, Norma Muller, Corky Keys, Ginger Sherrel (Ken), Don Vogel (Janie), and Karen Hoenig (Danny). Also, sisters-in-law: Eve Vogel, Christel Vogel; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Rosary and visitation for Weldon Vogel will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Memorial Mass on February 8, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. At Weldon’s request, memorial gifts may be made to the Muenster Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of choice in lieu of flowers.
