Hilda Louise (Locke) Murphree

Funeral service for Hilda Louise Murphree will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo. Graveside to follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Scott Funeral Home in Saint Jo. Today we celebrate the life of Hilda Louise Locke Murphree, age 91. She joined our Lord and Savoir on March 25, 2022. She was born to William Lock and Bertha Kunze in Falls County, TX on July 30, 1930. She married Aaron “Pat” Vernon Murphree on November 16, 1949. She and Pat started their family in Mansfield, TX. In 1972 they built their family home in Saint Jo. Her pride and joy was her family. She was an avid member of Saint Peter Lutheran Church of Bowie, TX. She was a member of TOPS club in Nocona, TX for many years. She loved working in her flower garden and collecting rocks. She had a love for animals of all kinds and never turned away a cat that needed a meal. Hilda’s talent and creativity was expressed by crafts. Her quilts and paintings will be cherished by her family and friends for years. She was a sweet and sassy little lady who will be missed by all. Surviving her, are her children; Sue Baxter of Eagle River, Alaska, Janice Lanford and husband Kenneth, Johnny Murphree and wife Lacretia, Tamie Hoover and husband Gary, Christy Murphree all of Saint Jo. Two brothers; Wilburn Locke of North Carolina, Benny Earl Locke and wife Sandra of Ponder, TX. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, also her son Steven Murphree, sister Betty Ann Locke-Lanford and brothers Melvin Locke, Milburn Locke and Robert Locke, grandchildren Chesna and Anastasia McComack, great grandchildren Eric Brown and Aubrey McComack. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and son at Union Cemetery in Saint Jo, TX
