Mass of Christian Burial for Joe Bartush will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. Rosary and Vigil will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 16, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Bartush passed away on Monday, April 5, 2021. Please wear happy colors! In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sacred Heart Scholarship Fund. For those that cannot make the services, the Mass and Rosary will be livestreamed. You can access them by going to shchurchmuenster.com. Joseph M. Bartush, 60, of Pilot Point, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family early on Easter Monday, April 5. He fought a courageous battle against T-cell Prolymphocytic Leukemia. Joe was born in Dallas, Texas on June 3, 1960, number 8 of 13 children, to Mary Jane and Charles F. Bartush, Sr. The Bartush family attended Christ the King Catholic Church & School, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, and Ursuline Academy of Dallas before moving out of the big city to Muenster, Texas. While attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School, the family immediately immersed themselves in sports and small-town living. Joe excelled at all sports, setting numerous records at all levels. Joe developed his love of the outdoors in Muenster, was an avid hunter, and encouraged his children to enjoy the same. Joe graduated from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas. In 1983 he returned to Dallas to work with his father in the food industry at Bartush-Schnitzius Foods Company. Joe spent almost 30 years managing customer accounts. He loved his job and his gregarious nature shone in this profession. Joe attended St Rita Catholic Church and met his wife, Barbara, there. Married in 1985, four children soon followed. They attended St Rita, Jesuit & Ursuline. Joe was an active parishioner, daily mass attendee, lector & Eucharistic Minister. He was a founding member & active volunteer of the Knight of Columbus chapter at St Rita. Boy Scouts soon became the joy of his life and he led his 3 sons, and numerous other boys, to the level of Eagle Scout. His knowledge of wildlife, camping, and cooking was enjoyed by all. Joe started working at St Rita Catholic Church in 2015. Everyone looked forward to seeing Joe’s smiling face around campus and at all events he prepared. Joe was also an avid BBQ master and really enjoyed cooking and smoking meats for family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his devoted parents and sisters, Ann & Virginia. Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara; Children; Katie, Andy, Peter & William. He also is survived by siblings, Charles, wife June; Bill, wife Darlene; Mary Beth; John, wife Lanie; Cindy, husband Sam; Cathy, husband Mark; Paul, wife Beth; Angela; Mike, wife Katrinka; Jim, wife Pam. He leaves behind a mother-in-law, Ellen Newman and brother-in-law, Todd Lane, who love him as their own. There are numerous nieces, nephews & grand nieces and nephews that will miss their Uncle Joe. Joe also leaves numerous relatives in Michigan & beyond.
