Charlene Marie (Tuck) Lyons

Charlene (Tuck) Lyons was born on April 9, 1924 in Sulphur, OK. and passed peacefully on July 27, 2024 in Azle, TX. She was preceded in death by her father Charlie Tuck, Mother Jessie (Tucker) Tuck Sewell, stepfather John Sewell, son-in-law David Parr, and brother Ewell “Peanut” Tuck. A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Saint Jo Church of Christ. Burial to follow at Illinois Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the Church of Christ before the service. Pallbearers will be Mike Parr, Terry Parr, Jody Lyons, Rusty Lyons, Craig McQuery, and Johnny Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Parker, Ray McLain, and Jeremy Dale. She married the love of her life, Clark Lyons on May 12, 1944 and celebrated 52 years of marriage with Clark passing in may of 1996. She leaves behind daughter, Linda Parr (married to David Parr who passed in 2022) of Azle, TX., a son Dale Lyons and wife Vicky of Breckenridge, TX., 4 grandchildren, Mike Parr and wife Billie of Jacksboro, TX., Terry Parr and wife Kristi of Waxahachie, TX., Alicia Parr Dale and husband Jeremy of Azle, TX., and Kimberly Lyons McCage of Marietta, OK. She was blessed with 9 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and a great great great grand on the way. Mary Tuck, Ewell’s wife of Quinlan, TX., and many nieces, nephews, and friends from Saint Jo and Azle. She and Clark farmed land in Illinois Bend from 1944 until 1964 when they moved to Saint Jo. She retired in 1985 after working 21 years at the historic Russell-Newman Manufacturing Company. She was a member of Spencer Church of Christ, Saint Jo Church of Christ, Azle Church of Christ, and belonged to the Friendship Club of Saint Jo, TX. She moved to Azle, TX in 2005 to be closer to Linda and Dale. She and Clark loved to garden, and she always had something sweet cooked and ready to be served to visiting family and friends. She loved to laugh and stories were told of excessive giggling in Wal-Mart and Dr.’s waiting rooms. Even though she was born in the depression era, she said she never knew she was poor. She touched so many lives in her 100 plus years and April 9, 2024 was designated Charlene Lyons Day by Proclamation of the Office of Alan Brundrett, mayor of Azle, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be mad to the Illinois Bend Cemetery Association.
