Cheryl Janice (Shults) Yosten

A memorial visitation for Cheryl Janice (Shults) Yosten, age 65, of Muenster will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. Mrs. Yosten passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Cheryl was the third beautiful daughter born to H. Clark Shults and Clara (Roark) Shults on June 3, 1958 in Odessa, TX. Cheryl had an impish grin, laughing blue eyes and quick wit as a child. She was the last of “Daddy’s Girls.” God blessed this beautiful little girl with a love of music, and an angelic singing voice. At the age of 6 years, Cheryl was asked to sing during the televised service of a church in Denver, Colorado. Cheryl married Melvin Ray Yosten, son of Henry W. and Mildred Irene (Wiesman) Yosten, at 12-noon on Friday, March 27, 1998, at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Texas, officiated by Dr. Bennie R. Slack, minister. From which, she gained the children of her heart: Stacie and Andrew. They have resided in Muenster, TX throughout their marriage. Along Cheryl’s life journey, her God given talents of a tenacious will, a keen business mind, and compassionate heart led her to open her kennel business, “Just Like Home”, which she ran for 23 years. Many people in the community knew that they could count on Cheryl to care for their dogs and cats during their time away from home. Cheryl’s love for the outdoors and all furry creatures developed into sharing her compassionate heart with people of all walks of life. She counted herself blessed by each encounter. Cheryl knew how to listen and hold a confidence; then she would leave and pray knowing God held the answer to each issue. Cheryl passed to her heavenly home on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Melvin; two sisters: Chris (Shults) Root (Mrs. Raymond Root), and Corie (Shults) Gallagher (Mrs. Eddie Gallagher); step-children Stacie (Yosten) Kasparek (Mrs. Ryan Kasparek), and Andrew Yosten; and aunt Marjorie Lofgreen (Victor). Also, by her sisters-in-law and their spouses: Kathy & Tom Bonner; Carol Vogel; and Janette & Bob Hess; and by her brother-in-law and his spouse, Doug & Lynda Yosten; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, great niece, countless friends, and innumerable furry friends who knew her as “Auntie” or “Grammy”. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, H. Clark Shults and Clara F. (Shults) Haynie, her step-father, Walter B. Haynie; her grandparents, William Lee & Elsie Mae Roark; her uncles, Harold Roark & Donald Roark; her aunt, Ruby Jordan; brother-in-law, Eddie Gallagher, and great niece Karys Henderson. Also, by her husband's parents, Henry W. & Mildred Yosten; and by her brothers-in-law, Henry F. Yosten; and Gene Vogel; and by her nephew, Tommy Bonner.
