Donald John Hennigan

Mass of Christian Burial for Donald John Hennigan will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery with a meal after at the KC Hall. Rosary and Vigil will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a visitation after at the Community Center. Donald passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2025. Donald was born on January 9, 1942, to Fred and Caroline (Wimmer) Hennigan at home in Muenster. He married Sandra Kay Wolf on September 30, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Donald attended Sacred Heart School and graduated in 1960. After school, he enlisted in the Army and served in Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He returned to Muenster after his service and started working for Yosten Gravel. He met the love of his life during the summer of 1964 at a VFW dance, and they have been together ever since. They married in 1967 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and settled on the Wolf farm west of Muenster. Don finished he career at Valenite; he worked there for 35 years. Don loved to deer hunt and take his boys on early morning hunts to get the big buck. He loved anything outdoors and enjoyed working on his farm. Don’s passion was his vegetable garden, flowers, and animals he had at his farm. He loved giving home-grown vegetables, fresh eggs, and anything else he could give to help anyone he met. In retirement, he enjoyed his time working for Tim Endres going around the county fixing water wells. What he loved most in retirement was his grandchildren. He enjoyed telling them stories and helping them with anything they wanted. He is survived by his wife Sandra of 57 years, brother Jerry Hennigan, sister Frances and husband Vic Sicking, sisters-in-law Rachel Hennigan and Mary Lee Hennigan, brother-in-law Felix Pelzel, sons Mark and wife Renee Hennigan, James and wife Angela Hennigan, Doug and wife Nicole Hennigan, and Jay and wife Pam Hennigan. 16 grandchildren, Danielle Sepeda, Morgan Hennigan, Kelsey Hennigan, Anna Kay Hennigan, Austin and wife Kayla Hennigan, Lydia Hennigan, Hunter Hennigan, Zachary Hennigan, Claudia Hennigan, Caroline Hennigan, Emma Hennigan, Mitch Hennigan, Gerhart Hennigan, Ashlyn Huerta, Abigail Hennigan and Aubrey Hennigan, and1 great grandchild arriving in June of this year. Don was preceded in death by parents Fred and Caroline (Wimmer) Hennigan, Siblings, Arthur Hennigan, Fred Hennigan and wife Ethel, Larry Hennigan, and Joan (Hennigan) Pelzel. Memorial gifts may be made to the Muenster Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of choice in lieu of flowers.
