Emilia Marie (Hermes) Voth

Emilia (Millie) Marie Voth, 93, died on April 17, 2023, at her residence in the Wesley Oaks Nursing Facility in Gainesville, Texas. Millie was born in Cooke County, Texas on September 19, 1929, and was the fifth daughter of Clement and Amelia Hermes. She grew up on a farm in Lindsay. On October 24, 1951, four years after graduating from high school in Lindsay, Millie married Theodore (Tee) Voth, a Muenster born farmer/rancher – a marriage that lasted for 65 years until Tee passed away in 2015. In 1962, Millie and Tee moved to the farm south of Muenster where they would spend much of the rest of their lives. Millie lived her entire life in Cooke County, Texas. Millie had a few odd jobs, including working at Kress Department Store in Gainesville and occasionally assisting at the Sacred Heart School cafeteria. However, Millie’s great vocation was to be a mother and homemaker. She spent the majority of her life turning her farm-house into a loving home, raising four children, and as time passed, doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her work on the farm and in her home, Millie loved to garden, ensuring that her family always had an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. What didn’t get eaten in the summer was canned or pickled for consumption in the fall and winter. She enjoyed sewing much of her own clothing. Millie also crocheted numerous afghans and sewed quilts, many of which are treasured today by her children. In her “spare” time, Millie volunteered at St. Richard’s Villa nursing home in Muenster. She would regularly visit the residents there, bring them fruit and baked goods, and share her time to brighten their days. Millie and Tee loved to travel when time permitted, including visiting most of the states in the United States, Mexico, Canada, and a number of countries in Europe. Tee and Millie were also known to visit Las Vegas, Laughlin, Tunica, and while not quite as exotic as Tunica, a few trips to Thackerville were also made. Millie was known throughout her life for her sense of humor and love of a good prank on friends and family. Millie was a loyal member of Sacred Heart Parish, had a special devotion to the Virgin Mary, and persistently encouraged that same devotion to her children. She was also a member of the St. Ann’s Society in Muenster. Millie is survived by her four children: Gene, Dave and wife Sharron, Sandy and husband Scott Felderhoff, and Tim and wife Debbie. Grandchildren include Kaitlyn and Zach Davis, Ryan and Alane Felderhoff, Christy and Chris Murphy, Jennifer and Danny Williams, and great grandchildren Peyton, Addison and Jackson Davis, Cassidy and Emma Layne Felderhoff, Matthew and wife Kelsi Williams and Mason Williams, and Ian, Lia and Ali Murphy. Millie is also survived by her brother Gilbert Hermes and sisters Rita Corcoran and Angela Haverkamp. Preceding Millie in death were husband Tee, parents Clement and Amelia Hermes, brothers Clem and Joe Hermes, and sisters Mary Hundt, Lou Schad, Elfrieda Hundt, Anna Hermes, and Bernice Strittmatter. Mass of Christian Burial for Millie was held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster with Father Joe Keating officiating. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. A Rosary and vigil were held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the funeral home. Pallbearers were: Gene Voth, Dave Voth, Tim Voth, Scott Felderhoff, Ryan Felderhoff, and Zach Davis.
