Joyce Bernadette (Haverkamp) Boydstun

Joyce Bernadette (Haverkamp) Boydstun, age 74, passed on to eternal life on Saturday, May 16, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joseph Keating officiating. Rosary and Vigil will be held at 6:00 PM on Friday, May 22, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a visitation following at the Sacred Heart Community Center. Funeral under the direction of Scott Funeral Home in Muenster. A lifelong resident of Muenster, Joyce was born the youngest of seven children on August 13, 1945 to Alois ‘Lee’ Haverkamp and Mary (Spaeth) Haverkamp. Joyce graduated in 1963 from Sacred Heart High School and married Gilbert ‘Bud’ Boydstun on December 14, 1963. They resided in Dallas and then Ft. Worth before moving back to Muenster in 1971. They build their home in Muenster where Joyce resided until her passing. As well as being a devoted mother, Joyce was also a homemaker, an at home childcare provider, and a seamstress for twenty years. In august 1992, Joyce took a job at Muenster Public High School where she worked until her retirement in 2014. During this time, her coworkers and students became like a second family. Joyce is survived by her three children: Sherri Uptain of Irving, Donnie and wife Terra Boydstun of Houston, and Michael and wife Laurie Boydstun of Gainesville. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Haley and wife Portia Boydstun, Bryan Boydstun and partner Lauren Tisdale, Lily Boydstun, and Reid Boydstun. Sisters: Florence Schumacher of Gainesville and Dolores Wiesman of Tulsa, OK. She is further survived by numerous close relatives. Joyce treasured her special friends and companions. A few of those friends are Leon Walterscheid, Bonny and Florence Prescher, Melvin and Marge Voth, Johnny and Jeanette Reiter, and Joan and Dave Walterscheid. Joyce found a friend in everyone and always had someone available to visit with. Preceding her in death were her beloved husband Bud in 1995, her parents Lee Haverkamp in 1989 and Mary Haverkamp in 1996, sisters: Jeanette Wickliff and Olivia Forgey; and brothers: Robert Haverkamp and Walter ‘Chalkie’ Haverkamp. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Muenster ISD Education Foundation.
