William Bernard Boyles

Mass of Christian Burial for William Bernard “Bill” Boyles, age 88, of Katy, Texas will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Boyles passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Bill was born on November 11, 1936 in Gainesville, Texas to William Gilbert “Jud” and Winnie Julius (Hellman) Boyles. He was raised in Muenster, known by his family as “Billy Ben”. His grandparents were Ben and Mamie Hellman. After high school, Bill served 2 years in the United States Army. He was a proud graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. In 1959, Bill met and married Dortha Nell Paulk. Dortha and Bill were married in a fire station in Perry, Oklahoma by the fire chief, who was also the justice of the peace. Dortha and Bill went on to have three children, Dana, Jennifer and Elizabeth. Bill had his career at Amoco/BP. While working, he provided his family with the opportunity of a lifetime, living in multiple countries all over the world and traveling to many more. He retired after 35 years. After retirement, he spent many years volunteering his time to The United Way, Amocares and representing AARP, helping other retirees with filing their taxes He was a devoted and loving husband and provided extensive care to Dortha in her last years. He was an involved and supportive father to Dana, Jennifer and Elizabeth. He doted on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, babies were his favorite. Bill is survived by his daughters: Dana and husband Jim Rountree of Doha, Qatar, Jennifer and husband Jake Howard of Katy, Texas, and Elizabeth and husband Nate Bui of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren: Sara and husband Josh Robertson, James Rountree, Caroline Bui, Cece Bui, Adelynn Howard, and Arabelle Howard; great grandchildren: Caden, Parker, and Emma Robertson; sisters: Delores McCurdy, and Gwendolyn and husband Tim Coughlin; brother: Thomas Boyles; and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death his wife: Dortha Boyles; parents: Jud and Winnie Boyles, and his sister: Barbara Jean Boyles.
